8th Grade Policies
8th grade is a transitional and exciting year for our students. In order for this year to be productive as well as prepare our students for the responsibility and rigor of High School the 8th Team will implement the following policies. These policies are to set the foundation of accountability and instill a sense of responsibility for their own education.
Lockers - The 8th grade team will not issue lockers. Students are responsible for carrying all materials to class. This will cut down on tardiness and make transitions between classes more harmonious.
Lunch detention - Students will be assigned lunch detention based on infractions on the discipline matrix. Lunch detention will be served in the lunch room at the assigned lunch detention table. Failure to report to lunch detention is equivalent to skipping a class and will be handled in the appropriate manner as stated on the discipline matrix.
Late Work - As stated by Wake County Board Policy 6000 R&P, it is the students responsibility to secure all make-up work from the teacher.
Assignments given while absent - any work that is missed while a student is out must be turned within 5 days of the student returning to school.
Failure to submit assignments - if a student simply fails to turn in an assignment this falls under incomplete work, the student will have 3 days to turn in the assignment for a late grade.
Assignments - Teachers will maintain a daily agenda on their board and actively update their web-sites, edmodo sites, and send notifications out through remind 101. It is the students responsibility to seek out this information and stay on top of all their assignments and due dates.
